Fall Newsletter 2019:
Farmers First & Families Flourish

This year we have lots to celebrate, so we’re kicking off the end of year by highlighting our Farmers First approach to innovation and advocacy. A Farmers First approach creates a platform for smallholder farmers to share their stories and play a central role in the innovation processes of sustainable agriculture development. How does the resulting irrigation technology transform farmers’ lives and bolster healthier communities? Check out our new study below to find out!

Now let’s KickStart this holiday season by looking
at what we’ve been able to achieve together…

Nairobi PID

Congratulations to our Incredible PID Team!

KickStart believes in a farmer-centric, knowledge-centered approach to sustainable agriculture development. Our Nairobi-based Product Intelligence and Development (PID) Team refines and develops new technologies to best meet the evolving needs of enterprising smallholder farmers across sub-Saharan Africa. We market-test our products with the entrepreneurs we serve, receive farmer feedback, and implement their ideas by investing in new, innovative solutions.

This would not be possible without the Autodesk Foundation, our dedicated team of engineers, and of course, supporters like you who make this technology existent, accessible, and ever improving.

Will you continue to help us reach even more families with KickStart’s life changing technology?

New Data Analysis: KickStart’s Impacts on Livelihoods

With support from The Adventure Project, KickStart completed a new study on farmers who use our irrigation pumps in Western Kenya. We utilized Akvo apps to digitize and greatly increase the efficiency of our impact data collection and analysis processes. The results demonstrate the tool’s transformative impacts on food security, economic liberty, health, education, and overall livelihoods:
